Can I trade-in my spill damaged Mac to you for parts?

We usually dispose of liquid-damaged Macs under the WEEE directive. Even though we may still offer you a reasonable amount for some models. If so, we’ll let you know at that time. Either way, we’ll do our very best to help you.

How long with it take to repair?

A spillage cleaning service is a time-consuming process. It’s also best not to rush — in other words, the better the preparation, the more chance of a successful repair. Please keep in mind what is being done during a spill cleaning. We probably have to disassemble your Mac fully. After that, it should dry for at least 48 hours, preferably up to 72 hours. Then we inspect it further to determine what damage has occurred. With your approval, we replace failed parts, reassemble and test thoroughly. Finally, it will be ready to collect when we’re sure it passes our functional testing.

It was just a little liquid. How could that have killed my Mac?

It really depends on where the spillage took place and where liquid made contact with the internal components. The tiniest amount of liquid could cause a logic board to fail. (The logic board is the main circuit board in your computer that connects every other component inside the machine.) The logic board (motherboard) of a Mac is densely crowded with many sensitive components. Put simply, liquid and electronics do not mix!

Will a spillage affect my warranty or AppleCare?

Apple does not cover damage caused by spills to a MacBook, MacBook Air or MacBook Pro. Accidental damage and spillages will also render your warranty invalid as soon as you notify Apple. Apple charge high prices to deal with accidentally damaged Macs. We keep our overheads low so our prices for liquid spill repairs are far more reasonable.

My MacBook won’t turn on after a spill. What should I do?

Please read the section above then arrange to drop off your Mac with us for a professional inspection and internal cleaning. We will check all components and see if anything needs replacing. If all fails we may find that it is time to consider a new or refurbished Mac, but rest assured, we will do all we can to avoid that.

What are the chances my Macbook will be OK?

The chances are often surprisingly good, and with us, they’re even better!

But please keep in mind, in most cases MacBook’s may require replacement parts although we aim to resolve spillages with a minimum of cost to you. We have years of experience in liquid spill repairs so you know your Mac is in the right hands.

Do you provide a No Fix, No Fee promise?

Yes we do. It’s extremely rare for us not to resolve a Mac problem, however we wouldn’t charge a penny if your Mac was unrepairable.

Do you have a minimum charge?

Put simply, No.

How much will the repair cost?

It’s impossible to offer an accurate quote without inspecting your Mac, troubleshooting and getting to the root cause. This is why we always offer a free diagnostic evaluation service.

This service allows us to determine what’s wrong, how much work is needed to resolve the problem and of course what the cost will be.
