Is your Mac suffering from Sudden Shutdowns?

Is your Mac suffering from Sudden Shutdowns? If your 2019 model 13-inch MacBook Pro keeps shutting down at randoms times you’ll be pleased to know that Apple have diagnosed the issue for models with a Touch Bar instead of function keys.

At this time there is no hardware replacement program set up by Apple however they’re advising owners of the 2019 13-inch MacBook Pro to try the following procedure:

  1. Allow the battery of your MacBook Pro to discharge until it is under 90% battery percentage. You can check battery percentage in the battery menubar item.
  2. Connect the power adaptor to your MacBook Pro.
  3. Quit all applications.
  4. Close the display lid and leave in sleep mode while it charges for at least 8 hours. This will reset the internal sensors that Apple claim are not correctly functioning.
  5. After 8 hours, update the macOS via Apple menu / About this Mac / Software Update.

Sudden-Shutdown-MacBook-Pro-RepairThis procedure is assumed to stop unexpected shutdowns from re-occurring. However, if you find the issue continues after following these steps you should contact Apple UK and be sure to mention that you have followed the steps in their support reference – also noted here

Bear in mind that as more information is collected about the issue, Apple might change its policy and a hardware replacement program might come into play.
